April is National Poetry Month, and oh, how I LOVE it! Rhythm, rhyme, and alliteration all over the place! April is also when our 7th graders tackled their Poetry Novel Unit (Can you guess it's one of my faves?) and I've created a poetry database to acquaint you all with the novels in verse that are available in the AMS library. Check it out here! Many congratulations to our March Madness winners, Aziza and Zain! There is something to be said for spending time in the library, for sure! These two girls slam-dunked the month, and made their librarian extra happy by providing other AMS students with swag-- bookmarks!-- as well as some great ideas for what to read next! Way to go, champs! Congratulations to Ben, Milo, and Avnee, Their limericks spark with glee! They dared to be bold, With words they told, Now their verses fly, wild and free! Congrats to these poets!
To the students at Ardsley, hear clear, A contest is drawing near. Write a limerick so bright, About school life, all right? And to Ms. Tallevi, you'll bring cheer. Your poems must be proper and kind, With school tales that delight and unwind. Hand them in with a smile, And after a while, A winner Ms. Tallevi will find!
Who's brighter than you, AMS?
While learning about the stars that brighten the night sky, we decorated the library with shooting stars. ...in some good books this December! This holiday season, AMS students gave themselves the gift of story! They unwrapped one of the books on display, choosing it only based on a short description. Those who read their books received a small prize for participating! Throughout KNoWvember, the library hosted a research challenge. Students came in and answered any of the research questions teachers supplied using a reliable source. They wrote the answer on an entry form, along with the correct MLA citation, and were entered into a drawing for a prize during the first week of December! Congratulations to the winners: Gloria J, Vihaan B, and Maanika N! Floating lights, skeletons reading scary books, spiderwebs overhead... who is in the mood for a story?
